Why Global Medical Brigades?

Global Medical Brigade provides students a chance to immerse themselves in volunteer experiences particularly customized to provide future health care experiences in engaging and connecting closely with patients in various backgrounds and adversities.

Do I have to be a UH student to attend the brigade?

While our chapter is aimed at UH students, anyone is able to attend our brigade as long as they remain active within our chapter.

What are the requirements to attend a brigade?

To attend a brigade, a member must remain active within the organization and attend fundraisers and social events. In addition, members must meet Global Brigades payment deadlines in order to attend.

Do I have to be a pre-health major to join?

No! We have no major requirements and are always encouraging non pre-health majors to join us. Brigades are a learning experience for all majors and are truly eye-opening, no matter what your career choice is.

What is the membership fee?

The membership fee is $40 every year and helps to pay for our day-to-day chapter expenses, such as food and drinks at meetings, and the fee includes a member shirt. 

How safe will we be in the countries we go to?

When in country, Global Brigades takes great care to keep all brigaders safe, providing us with a secure compound, trustworthy coordinators, drivers and translators.

What is the cost?

The cost is $950 for the program fee for Honduras and $980 for Nicaragua (Check with officers to find out where the next brigade is going) + the airfare. The program fee includes 3 meals a day, transportation in country, housing, insurance, etc.
